Meeting Fear with Curiosity
Fear often feels like an unwelcome visitor. We might resist it, push it away, wish it would disappear. But what if our relationship to fear is different? What if it is here to help us navigate and to guide us?
The word petrified can have two meanings. One is to be frozen in fear, unable to move. The other is to become hardened, like stone, hard to change. Both remind us of how being petrified can hold us in place. Yet life is always moving. Change is always present. And awareness can give us the courage to walk more comfortably with both fear and change.
When fear shows up, it is easy to think something is wrong. But awareness asks us to pause, to notice what fear might be pointing toward. Instead of closing down, we can soften and lean closer. Fear carries information. It sometimes shows us what we value. It might show us where we are stuck or rigid and where we have possibilities to stretch, and grow.
Change works in the same way. At first it might unsettle us. It can disrupt our familiar stories and comforts. But within the disruption lies possibility. Awareness invites us to see those cracks in our certainty not as something to fear but as openings. What if the very thing we resist holds the path to the life we want to live?
Take a moment today to notice where fear might be alive in you. Is there a place you are frozen, a place you feel hardened or fixed on? What if, instead of turning away, you met that place with curiosity? What might fear be pointing to or showing you? What might it be able to teach you?
Fear does not have to be conquered. It needs to be listened to, understood. And when we listen, we discover that fear is not the enemy of change, but the companion that helps us find the courage to step into it….and GROW!
With love and curiosity,
Marcina
