Awareness in Relationship
Awareness is about how conscious we are in how we meet life, how we meet others, and how we show up in the world.
Every relationship allows us to experience our world and ourselves.
It is one of the best mirrors that shows us who we are being.
You can never really know another person.
When you meet another person, you are not truly meeting them.
You are meeting yourself in relation to them.
Every experience, every conversation, every reaction
is an invitation to notice something about who you are being.
It is YOU, and how you are relating to them.
It helps to remember that every person carries a universe inside of them,
a way they are relating to their life.
We cannot know how someone else is experiencing this world,
just as they cannot know how we are.
What we can know is that it is different,
and we can choose to meet them with curiosity, play, and wonder
about their experience
and our experience of them.
When we let go of the need to define or control,
we discover space for authentic connection
and exploration of our lives.
And our relationships do not stop with people.
We are in relationship with absolutely everything
with people, experiences, things, thoughts, nature, and this world.
Even with colors.
Think about your relationship with the color red.
For one person it feels like love.
For another it feels urgent.
For someone else it might represent anger,
sexy, flamboyant, or even blood.
That in itself is a big variety,
and that is with only one color.
Every relationship shapes the way we experience life.
This week, I invite you to notice your relationships
with people, with places, with life itself.
What assumptions are you holding?
Where might curiosity about a relationship open a new perspective?
What happens when you meet a person
knowing that they do not experience the world like you do?
Awareness in relationships changes everything.
It allows us to see the ways that we are always co creating experiences
by how we meet one another.
It is an invitation to choose to be present,
curious, playful,
and yes… loving.
