The lines blur... One of President Bush's evil axis seems to have a drug policy remarkably similar to the U.S.'s. North Korea's president has ordered that all drug users be executed by shooting. Of course this policy won't stop drug use in his police state any more than China's similar policy did in China. China still executes a new crop of drug users every year. The U.S. also has the death penalty for major drug dealers and gives out incredibly harsh sentences for lesser offenders. The result...? More people in prison than anywhere else in the world and more drugs available at cheaper prices than before. But, I suppose it comforts some people to know that like President Bush, Kim Jong II " is firm on the issue of drug abuse."

North Korea to Kill All Drug Users
4/5/2002

North Korean leader Kim Jong II has ordered that all drug users be executed by shooting, Kyodo reported March 28.

"I will subject all those who sell or use illegal drugs to a firing squad, and have ordered that Chinese drug traders be beaten with sticks," said Kim.

Kim also told Konstantin Pulikovsky, Russian President Vladimir Putin's special representative to the Russian Far East, to "shoot and kill" any North Korean drug offenders his country finds.

Kim said his drug policy is aimed at making it known that North Korea is firm on the issue of drug abuse.
